Dozmary Pool

Bodmin Moor North Cornwall
Dozmary Pool is a small lake on Bodmin Moor within a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). The pool outflows into Colliford Lake and is one of the River Fowey's sources.

Dozmary Pool is associated with Arthurian legend. Claimed to be the home of the Lady of the Lake, this is where King Arthur obtained Excalibur. Sir Bedivere later returned Excalibur to the lake as King Arthur lay dying after the Battle of Camlann.

Another legend linked to Dozmary Pool is that of Jan Tregeagle whose ghost was ordered to empty the pool using a leaking limpet shell after being accused of obtaining land illegally. Dozmary Pool is said to be bottomless.
