Hell's Mouth

Gwithian Portreath West Cornwall
Hell's Mouth is a group of steep cliff faces some 300ft tall on the south west coast path between Portreath and Godrevy, on Cornwall's north coast. Once a popular landing point for smugglers, Hell's Mouth is now a beauty spot and great place for seal watching, as they take shelter in the cove that is inaccessible to people. You can peer down from the top of the cliffs, but please take care! There is now a cafe at the top of the cliffs baring the same name.

Hell's Mouth is thought to have taken it's name from the dramatic views of the north Cornish coast entering the cove, it's certainly easy to imagine shipwrecks and smugglers of a time gone by when stood looking at the scene. From Hell's Mouth you can walk to nearby Portreath, or to Gwithian in the opposite direction along the coast path, with spectacular views of the coastline to be had in either direction.
