The King's Head pub at Five Lanes dates from 1623. It was occupied by both sides during the English Civil War of 1642. In 1773 it was called The Indian Queen and then became The London Inn. In 1795 it was just known as Five Lanes Inn. The long passage upstairs is said to be haunted by the ghost of Peggy Bray, and visitors say they feel a strange chill in the air in the middle of the corridor. The pub is particularly renowned for its carvery.
