Mevagissey

Mevagissey South Cornwall
Mevagissey is located close to St Austell on Cornwall's south coast in a small valley facing east towards Mevagissey bay. This pretty traditional fishing village has an inner harbour built on the site of a medieval quay, and an outer harbour, both of which are busy with fishing and pleasure boats. You can take a ferry ride from the harbour to the nearby village of Fowey or even hire your own boat to go off exploring the coastline for yourself.

The picturesque narrow streets of Mevagissey are lined with a choice of nautically themed gift shops, restaurants and pubs making the village a real pleasure to amble around. You can sit and watch the fishermen working from the harbour in Mevagissey, where you're able to buy the fresh fish as it comes in from the local waters. Every year at the end of June, a week of music, dancing and family fun is held in Mevagissey known as 'Feast Week', ending with a carnival and fireworks display.

The tranquil village of Portmellon has a sandy beach and is just a 20 minute walk along the beautiful coastline from Mevagissey, with the popular village of Gorran Haven being just a little bit further along the coast, making Mevagissey a great location to base yourself from which to explore this area of Cornwall's south coast.
