Polperro

Polperro Looe South Cornwall
Polperro is a true gem with its picturesque harbour and narrow winding streets full of character cottages, tucked into a steep ravine on the south Cornish coast. Polperro is a small village located on the South Coast of Cornwall, close to Looe and Talland Bay.

Fishing was traditionally the main occupation for Polperro's residents and whilst there are still a number of fishing boats operating from the harbour, tourism is now the villages main industry. There's plenty to see and do for visitors to Polperro, from the heritage museum of smuggling and fishing, to a fantastic 'model village', art galleries, and of course the beautiful coastal paths from which you can discover the hidden coves and deserted beaches of the area.

Polperro's quaint and narrow streets make driving and parking around the village difficult, so 'trams' made from disguised milk floats ferry people back and forth from a large car-park just outside the village. There are also a large selection of independent boutique shops selling crafts and Cornish goods, perfect for strolling around on a lazy day.

The 14th century Crumplehorn Inn and Mill stands proud at the entrance to the village, opposite the main car park. With a restored water wheel consisting of 12 tons of revolving iron and timber, it's a lovely place to sit and enjoy a Cornish ale in the sunshine.
