Porthchapel Beach

Porthcurno West Cornwall
Porthchapel beach is in a secluded and breathtakingly beautiful cove situated in west Cornwall near Porthcurno and Porthgwarra. Although not the biggest of beaches in the area, it's certainly one of the most stunning. The soft white sands and turquoise seas, with picturesque natural surroundings and a babbling waterfall leading down to the ocean make this beach well worth visiting.

A ten minute walk through a beautiful valley from the car park near St Levan church leads you to Porthchapel, there's a fairly steep climb to get down onto the beach meaning it's not suitable for wheel chairs or push chairs, there are also no facilities or lifeguard cover at Porthchapel, the nearest beach with full facilities being Porthcurno.

This is the ideal beach for those who want to get away from the crowds and find a little piece of paradise for themselves, especially if you visit out of the main holiday season. The best time to visit Porthchapel is on an outgoing tide, as at high tide the beach practically disappears.

You can walk from the nearby Minack Theatre across the cliff tops to find Porthchapel, the views out across the clear blue waters are second to none, and this area of Cornwall is perfect for spotting Basking Sharks from the coast paths, sometimes these huge vegetarians can grow to over 10 meters long!
