Poughill

Bude North Cornwall
Poughill pronounced 'poffle' is a small village with pretty flowers and thatched roofs, situated near Bude in North Cornwall. The church 'St Olaf' is of exceptional interest and dates from the 14th century. The battle of Stamford Hill was fought on the outskirts of Poughill on the 16th of May 1643, this battle is re-enacted over two days on the closest weekend to the anniversary which is then followed by a procession through the streets of neighbouring Stratton village.
